Cindy Reed, 3Name3D

I've been doing art all my life, but I got into computer graphics about 10 years ago on an Amiga using the first version of Sculpt 3D. In 1988 I moved to San Francisco and attended Computer Arts Institute. While I was at CAI, I had the chance to learn several more 3D systems including, Crystal/Topas, Cubicomp Picture Maker, Symbolics, and Digital Arts. I also met many incredibly talented people who gave me encouragement and guidance.

After I graduated, I moved to Southern California where I did architectural graphics and animation. It was during this time that I was first exposed to Wavefront, and during the Wavefront training class I met J.F. and Larry.

After doing architectural work for several years, I worked as a freelancer on a number of projects including a large scale Virtual Reality project. In January of 1995 I decided I'd had enough of freelancing and started working full time for 3Name3D. At 3Name3D, I've had the chance to work for many major clients and on a huge variety of projects; from video to film to games to VR. I am blessed with employers who let me pursue my own interests and who gave me the freedom to experiment with VRML. I discovered the www-vrml mailing list and quickly became a VRML nut. So, I'm doing work that I love for people I love and, as if the Lord hasn't already blessed me enough, I'm getting married on the 14th of September.

I hope that people enjoy the VRML we've created. We had a great deal of fun making it. I hope that this project demonstrates that VRML has arrived, that complex and interesting projects are possible NOW. The spec is solid and, while it will continue to evolve, it's ready to go to work.

This is the second VRML project I've done for Silicon Graphics and I've been fortunate to have met and become friends with many people there. I'm very grateful to them for giving me free reign on this project.

Special thanks to Kelli Ambrosi, Joe Ushana, and the Hot Mix team. To David Story and everyone on the Cosmo team. You guys are amazing! To everyone on the www-vrml mailing list, there's way too many to mention names. To Sandeep, Steve, Oscar, Heather, and everyone at 3Name3D. To J.F. and Larry, always on my team! A big thanks to Rick, the love of my life. And especially thanks to the Lord who makes all things possible.
